WHAT WE’RE ALL ABOUT

Experience Jesus
& be changed by Him!

At First Baptist Burnet, we strive to be a gathering of people who passionately follow Jesus Christ, build believers to maturity, and communicate the hope of Jesus to the hopeless. By the grace of God our Father we all have the opportunity to experience the love of Jesus. The question is, will you allow Him to change your life? Will you choose to make every effort to worship Jesus every day? He deserves our surrender! Our goal is to create a welcoming environment for you to connect with other believers while challenging each other to offer Jesus the glory and honor He deserves. There are a range of ministries to help you connect and engage no matter your spiritual or physical stage of life.

What We Believe

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God, written by men under divine guidance. It is God’s revelation of Himself to humanity, providing instruction for faith and life. It is perfect, without error, and stands as the ultimate authority for Christian beliefs and practices. Everything in the Bible points to Jesus Christ and reveals God’s plan of salvation for mankind.

– Key Scripture: Isaiah 40:8, Psalms 119:105, Deuteronomy 4:2, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Matthew 5:18, 2 Peter 1:20-21

The Trinity

God exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each is distinct, yet fully God, united in essence, and inseparable in being. The Father reigns over all creation, the Son (Jesus Christ) is the Savior of humanity, and the Holy Spirit dwells in believers, guiding and empowering them to live according to God’s will.

– Key Scripture: Genesis 1:26, Deuteronomy 6:4, Isaiah 48:16, Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. He was born of the Virgin Mary through the miraculous work of the Holy Spirit. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross to atone for the sins of humanity, and rose from the dead, defeating death and offering eternal life to those who believe. Jesus is now exalted at the right hand of God and will return one day to judge the living and the dead.

– Key Scripture: Isaiah 7:14, Micah 5:2, Matthew 1:18-23, Luke 24:46-47, Romans 10:9-10

Baptism

We believe that baptism is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in Jesus Christ. Baptism, performed by immersion, illustrates the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ and the believer’s commitment to a new life in Him. It is a public declaration of faith.

– Key Scripture: Genesis 7:6-7, Exodus 14:21-22, Matthew 28:19-20, Romans 6:3-4, Acts 2:38

Salvation

Salvation is a gift of grace from God, available to all who trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Through His sacrificial death and resurrection, Christ provides the means for us to be forgiven and reconciled with God. Salvation encompasses regeneration (new birth), justification (right standing with God), sanctification (growing in holiness), and glorification (eternal life with God). It is by grace through faith, not by works, that we are saved.

– Key Scripture: Isaiah 53:5-6, Ezekiel 36:26-27, Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 10:9-10, 2 Corinthians 5:17

Sin

Sin is the act of disobeying God’s commands, which separates humanity from Him. Every person is born with a sinful nature and is in need of redemption. Through Jesus Christ, we can be forgiven of our sins and restored to a right relationship with God. Sin is conquered through faith in Christ, and believers are called to live holy lives, empowered by the Holy Spirit.

– Key Scripture: Genesis 3:6, Psalms 51:5, Isaiah 64:6, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, 1 John 1:9

The Gospel Message

The gospel, meaning “good news,” is the heart of our faith. We believe that God loves the world so much that He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins and rise from the dead, offering forgiveness and eternal life to all who believe. Through faith in Jesus, we are saved by grace and brought into a personal relationship with God, free from condemnation and empowered to live a new life. This salvation is available to everyone who repents and trusts in Christ as their Savior and Lord.

– Key Scripture: Isaiah 61:1, Genesis 12:3, John 3:16, Romans 10:9-10, Ephesians 2:8-9

The Church

We believe the church is the body of Christ, with Jesus as its head. He holds all authority, and the church operates under His Lordship, seeking to fulfill His will as revealed in Scripture. The church is a community of believers who gather to worship God, grow in faith, and serve others. Every member has a role in building up the body of Christ, and together we are called to spread the gospel and make disciples. The church functions through democratic processes, with every believer accountable to Christ.

– Key Scripture: Deuteronomy 31:12, Psalms 133:1, Isaiah 28:16, Ephesians 1:22-23, Ephesians 2:19-22, Colossians 1:18, Matthew 28:19-20

I want to welcome you to First Baptist Church of Burnet, where our goal is to honor Jesus and help people. We strive to reach all age groups with relevant Bible teaching, worship, and meaningful ministries. We do this because we are convinced that Jesus loves people so much that He died on the cross for our sins and rose from the dead. We are so convinced of this that we have trusted Him as the Lord of our lives. If you have never trusted Jesus as your Lord, we would be honored to help you through that process. If you have trusted Him, we would be honored to help you grow in your relationship with Him. Either way, we look forward to meeting you in worship and Bible study on Sunday mornings. Again, welcome to First Baptist Church.
