WHAT WE’RE ALL ABOUT

Experience Jesus
& be changed by Him!

At First Baptist Burnet, we strive to be a gathering of people who passionately follow Jesus Christ, build believers to maturity, and communicate the hope of Jesus to the hopeless. By the grace of God our Father we all have the opportunity to experience the love of Jesus. The question is, will you allow Him to change your life? Will you choose to make every effort to worship Jesus every day? He deserves our surrender! Our goal is to create a welcoming environment for you to connect with other believers while challenging each other to offer Jesus the glory and honor He deserves. There are a range of ministries to help you connect and engage no matter your spiritual or physical stage of life.

What We Believe

The Bible

The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is the record of God’s revelation of Himself to man. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth without any mixture of error for its matter. It will remain the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried. The criterion by which the Bible is to be interpreted is Jesus Christ.

Confessions are only guides to interpretation, having no authority over the conscience. Baptists are a people who profess a living faith. This faith is rooted and grounded in Jesus Christ. Therefore, the sole authority for faith and practice among Baptists is Jesus Christ whose will is revealed in the Holy Scriptures.

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. That the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”  – 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Christ Is The Head Of The Church

Christ is the one head of the church. All authority has been committed unto Him . . .Not traditions, nor customs, nor councils, nor confessions, nor ecclesiastical formulates, however venerable and pretentious, guide Baptists, but simply and solely the will of Christ as they find it revealed in the New Testament.

“And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.”   –Ephesians 1:22-23

The church is an autonomous body, operating through democratic processes under the Lordship of Christ. In such a congregation members are equally responsible.

“. . . Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord., in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.”     –Ephesians 2:20

In the Virgin Birth of Christ

Christ is the eternal Son of God. In His incarnation as Jesus Christ, He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.

“Therefore the Lord Himself will be you a sign: Behold the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call His name Emmanuel.”    –Isaiah 7:14

Jesus Died For Our Sins

In His death on the cross He made provision for the redemption of men from sin.

“And He died for all.”    – 2 Corinthians 5:15

Jesus Overcame Death

“And the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was Lying.”       –Matthew 28:5-6

“Now He said to them, ‘These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”   –Luke 24:44

“and He said to them, “thus it is written that the Christ should suffer and rise again from the dead the third day; and that repentance for forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.”  –Luke 24:46-48

“…that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.”  –Romans 10:9-10

I want to welcome you to First Baptist Church of Burnet, where our goal is to honor Jesus and help people. We strive to reach all age groups with relevant Bible teaching, worship, and meaningful ministries. We do this because we are convinced that Jesus loves people so much that He died on the cross for our sins and rose from the dead. We are so convinced of this that we have trusted Him as the Lord of our lives. If you have never trusted Jesus as your Lord, we would be honored to help you through that process. If you have trusted Him, we would be honored to help you grow in your relationship with Him. Either way, we look forward to meeting you in worship and Bible study on Sunday mornings. Again, welcome to First Baptist Church.
